Hopick 2.4.5 — Blocking, Your Way. Offline, Sorted.
by Hopick Team, Founders
This release is about control: the power to block anyone, easily, and to know it's actually working — on your feed, your notifications, everywhere.
Blocking that just works
Block from anywhere. You can block someone from their profile, a post, or a comment menu, with a confirmation first so you never do it by accident.
Both directions. Their posts, comments, and profile disappear from your feed, and yours disappear from theirs. It's a clean break, not a half measure.
Quiet notifications. New alerts from a blocked user stop arriving, and we clear out the ones already sitting there.
No stray mentions. Blocked users vanish from mention suggestions, and posts that mention them are rejected outright.
Your list, your rules. Everything lives in one place under settings; unblocking is one tap and content returns.
Offline, without the worry
A clear offline banner. You always know when you're offline, and sync resumes on its own once you're back.
Edits that wait for you. Profile changes made offline are saved and pushed up when you reconnect.
Easier on the eyes
Full-bleed images. Post photos fill the card edge to edge, with single photos neatly centered.
Steadier feeds. Comment lists hold their place and vote counts survive when you switch sort modes.
Tidier writing. Post and comment character limits are consistent now, so composing feels the same everywhere.
Why these problems mattered
Not every fix makes a nice headline, but these all got under peoples' skin:
- There was no way to block at all — the loudest gap in the app, now closed from every surface you'd want it on.
- Blocking that only went one way — blocking now works in both directions, so the relationship is hidden for both of you.
- Notifications kept arriving after a block — a blocked user could still ping you. Generation is now stopped at the source, and history is cleaned up at block time.
- Sync that fought you offline — updates could collide or fire constantly. Syncing is now debounced, connectivity-aware, and honest about its state.
- Uneven image layout — photos hugged the side or left dead space. The carousel now fills the card properly.
What's next
Blocking in 2.4.5 is the foundation. We're now tightening the edges — search results that exclude blocked users, deep links that resolve cleanly, and a smarter home feed built on everything we've learned. And performance, as always: every release gets faster, never slower.
