Hopick 2.4.1 — Topics Are In, Comments Got Rebuilt.
by Hopick Team, Founders
This was the big one. We reorganised the whole app around Topics, gave comments a proper overhaul, and added a way to discover things you didn't know you liked.
Topics replace Clubs
Clubs were heavy. Joining, moderating, keeping them alive took more than most people needed just to talk. So we turned them into something lighter.
- Topics are just tags now. Add one to any post, follow the subjects you care about.
- A gentle start. Dozens of ready-made topics to browse, plus you can create your own.
- Follow and filter. Pick the topics you like and shape your home feed around them.
Comments, from scratch
- Edit and delete. Fix a typo, or pull a comment down entirely. A one-hour window keeps quick fixes honest and fair.
- Replies that flow. Sub-threads expand and collapse smoothly instead of jumping around.
- Accurate counts. The reply numbers are real now, not leftovers.
- Faster feel. Actions are instant, and the feed updates as you tap.
Discover something new
- A shuffled Discover feed. An algorithmic mix of posts you might enjoy, arranged in a tidy masonry layout.
- Smoother images. The photo viewer is now native on both platforms, so pinch-to-zoom feels the way it should.
The problems we fixed
- Clubs that were loads of management. Running a club came with too much overhead. Topics keep the conversation and drop the admin.
- Comments that felt clunky. Editing was basic and threads were hard to read. Now you edit, delete, and follow replies naturally.
- A one-way image viewer. Zooming felt sluggish and not quite native. It is rebuilt properly on both iOS and Android.
What's next
We're working on a smarter home feed, richer posting tools, and a more personal profile. And performance — every release gets faster, never slower.
